If you've never used natural deodorant before, then keep in mind that there will be a "detox" phase as your body expels years and years of built up chemicals. Antiperspirants don't just prevent sweating, they prevent toxins and bacteria from being released. Those first few weeks might feel a little... pungent.
DON'T GIVE UP! It can take up to 30 days (although most people take around 2-3 weeks) to fully transition. During that time your body is having to learn to regulate this process all on its own. I promise you, it will get there and you'll be so happy that you made the switch!
When you stop using antiperspirant, you’ll temporarily experience an increase in the growth of odor-causing bacteria in the underarm area. During this period, you may also feel more moisture because your body is sweating, which is its natural way of flushing out toxins. It’s important to note that this odor-causing bacteria won’t persist indefinitely. It’s simply a part of the detox process that occurs when you discontinue using conventional deodorant and/or antiperspirant, allowing your microbiome to return to a healthy state.
During the detox phase you can use lemons to help kill bacteria and refresh those pretty little pits. If you are not currently operating a full-time lemonade stand and require occasional disinfection, hand sanitizer or alcohol prep pads can be highly effective tools for maintaining cleanliness. ! Drink a ton of water, so your body has resources to draw from. Take hot showers and really let that sweat out. And don't get too stressed when you're sweating buckets for the first few weeks. It gets better--I promise!
